The article which appeared in this weeks Manawatu Standard
Quote:
Those wanting to hear some of Palmerston North's best - and loudest - bands will soon have life made a lot easier.

The Slave Collective, which runs shows for bands in the city, is about to release its fifth compilation album.

Titled There's Something In The Swamp, the album features songs from 20 bands based in or around Palmerston North.

Murray Shaw, who put together the album, said it was extremely easy to get enough songs to fill the space.

"We put the word out that we were putting together another compilation through our website . . . and got in touch with some artists who we particularly wanted to include. "This quickly became 20 bands from the local area, which was all we could fit on the CD."

It is the fifth compilation the collective has released, after Return of the Swamp Mutants. The album includes death metallers Depths, blues act The Blue Grizzly Band and hardcore duo Losses.

"We send the compilation to b-net radio stations all around the country, and other independent-friendly radio shows like The Axe Attack on The Rock."

The Slave Collective is celebrating with an album release show next Friday night at The Royal in Palmerston North, featuring Diamond Sutra, Bloodspray for Politics, Project: Blood, and Precursor.

The entry price will include a copy of There's Something In The Swamp.
