Iran Ready to Donate Over 10 Million Barrels of Oil - But US Sanctions Prevent it.
Iran has announced that it is ready to send between 10 million and 20 million barrels of crude oil to the US to help with the hurricane relief effort. The problem is the US-imposed sanctions on their Middle Eastern enemy may prevent the gesture.
Iran's Governor to the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) said "We are ready to send 10-20 million barrels to the U.S. if this was not barred by sanctions. If sanctions were lifted we could send this now."

that is fucking beautiful. you have to suspect they wouldn't actually give them the oil if the embargo wasn't in place, but still...
michael moore also uses the hurricaine to raise a couple of pertinent points... from his last mailing list post
Quote: Any idea where all our helicopters are? It's Day 5 of Hurricane Katrina and thousands remain stranded in New Orleans and need to be airlifted. Where on earth could you have misplaced all our military choppers? Do you need help finding them? I once lost my car in a Sears parking lot. Man, was that a drag.
Also, any idea where all our national guard soldiers are? We could really use them right now for the type of thing they signed up to do like helping with national disasters. How come they weren't there to begin with?

Well we are in an ppetrochemical crisis here right now. The legislators have already bent the rules to allow a shipment of crude in from Europe, but that wont get here until mid OOct for whatever reasons. In the last week, petrol has gone up $1 per gallon in this area (50% increase) and $4 per gallon in other areas (200% increase).... if someone wants to send fuel in aid, Bush should let it happen..... too fuckin proud and stubbon for that kinda malarky... wanker. There were a number of gas stations without fuel here the other day. People freak out in this area, if snow is forecast, everyone heads to the supermarket to buy toilet paper, milk, tinned foods and water...... then there is none on the shelf.... fuck, apparently winter was a severe one foor this area, it didnt stoop me getting around on my bike and by foot in the snow.... it was actually quite fun....... when there is a whisper of a fuel crisis, there are lines of vehicles for miles outside every gas station you drive past no matter what price they are selling the fuel for........ BUSH DON'T CARE ABOUT BLLACK PEOPLE!!!!!!!

New Zealand based major oil companies just posted an 87% profit increase over last years profit margin. Personally I don't think theres an oil crisis, I think we're suffering from a greed crisis.

I think we're suffering from a greed crisis and from climate chaos.
Peak oil isn't a problem, it's the human societys uncoordinated reaction to the end of cheap oil that will be the prob. That and climate chaos as a result of using up too much fossil fuel.
