So after loading up the van at 11am and hitting the road we finally got to Whammy about 6pm. The venue is a basement style place in St Kevin's Arcade off of K road. It is joint onto a small acoustic style venue called the Wine Cellar which has low-key gigs from 8-11pm.
Gaytime kicked off the night at Whammy with their kickarse 2-piece garage punk rock styles.
Bloody Souls with Andrew Tolley on gat and voice were similar in sound to Motorhead crossed with the Tolley styles of Hasselhoff. Wicked rock n' roll and the Lemmy style Rickenbacker bass topped it off.
Turbostill played our drunken rock n' roll next.
We were followed by a well received rocking set from the Boss Christ band.
Death Valley finished the night with a rousing rockabilly country rock sort of a sound which also went down well with the crowd.
Great to have over a 100 people at the show to make our travels north well worth the effort and good to cover the costs of getting two swamprock bands to Auckland and back.
Cheers to all the bands involved and everyone that came along, and Dane and his flatmates for putting us up at their flat only a 100 metres from the venue.
